In summer, Mount Washington is transformed into one of Canada’s premier hiking centres. Hikers use the Eagle chairlift to get that ” top of the world ” feeling as they view the incredible 360 degree panorama down to the Comox Valley and across the ocean to the snow-capped Coast Mountain Range.
Or simply walk straight from the resort through Strathcona Provincial Park to link with many trails through forests, across alpine meadows and around lakes, with mountain peaks and the Comox Glacier towering above. Begin with a gentle stroll along the boardwalks of Paradise Meadows, where there are plenty of benches on which to rest, admire the scenery and study the alpine flora and fauna along the way. From there, continue on to endless trails within the 1,000 square miles of Strathcona Provincial Park and on Mount Washington itself.
Other summer activities on the mountain include swimming in Battleship Lake in Strathcona Provincial Park, mini-golf, disc golf, bungee trampoline jumping and scenic chairlift rides.
